THANK GOD FOR WHATEVER’S WORKING

Thank God for
every big and little thing
that’s working. . .

for
so much stuff
acts up like duds
and wrecks
your natal urge to sing,
as it heavy on your calm
and natural joy is jerking.

Focus on whatever works,
each day,
and pray–
do do that first–
for,
for the stuff
that wrings your nerves,
relief is there
just under the horizon lurking.
