WHEN YOU GET SERIOUS

When you finally
hanker down
and begin
get quite serious. . .

things look
so very different
you may feel the urge
to control all
and get decidedly imperious,

but, really,
over the long haul,
that’s apt to make you
plum delirious. . .

A better tack’s
to plain and simply
play your part,
as best you know,
allow some others
in the act–

and of the rest,
simply let go,

step back,
and wonder at the miracle
of how well things will start to flow
though you won’t see
quite how they did–

For while
you’ve done
a solid job,
the reason for
your wild success
is more or less
mysterious.
