When craze sets in,
and sets the pace
your every step
is stepped in,
step back,

and take a breath,

and, though it’s tough,
it’s probably best
if you don’t freak–
do what you can,
not just to take a break,
but also, notice
how you still
are managing to breathe,

and, soon,
one day,
if not today,
you’ll walk and choose
a slower and more gentle way,

so you enjoy
more steadily
each wave of ease
and joy,
through both bright activity
and each restful stretch
of peace.
