GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS

Your whole story
you don’t need
to tell–

you are who you are,
living under
bright, warm shelter
of your star–
you know it well. . .

It is not them
you need to tell
the story of your life. . .

they still can help,
(or you help them),
and if that story
has for them
some kind of end,
if they become your ally,
or perhaps your friend,

then,
if and when
the time comes ripe,
your story
(in lengthy form
or as a shorty)
eventually
will come to light,

and then,
to you and them,
it will not seem extraneous,
but very, very right.
