THE FEBRUARY WAITING GAME

The darkness
in the early February evening. . .

the short wait
for the black sky lit
with a clear
and scintillating starness–

Orion’s bright high belt
and shield
still bracket
sapling, growing days,

as a quick, young colt
restrained
in a temporary
binding harness.
