When you dare
to let another person
strong on you depend
far from any
public eyes
fickle, fitful, scornful,
and vascillating to adoring glare,

it’s likely true,
even if
you lurk in secret,
the sheer responsibility
may in you
raise a great big scare,

but there you are,
still coming through,
even if it comes
to heavy drop
of other shoe,

You do what you
have promised to,
and for that person
boldly take a stand. . .

And this
will tell you
that you care
and that
there’s something in you,
maybe very deep
in there,
that’s really, truly worthy of a friend.
