If your life should freeze,
it’s best to breathe
and pray
that it will keep. . .

until the warm
and movement come

to comfort it
and nourish it

so it can melt,

and go
to sparkle bright
wherever it flows,

and after
a modicum of time
in which it
under sun
does wind,

it’s ready next
to be refreshed,
so that it can
be its best
after its night
of starry, healing sleep.
