STRUT OUT ON A SATURDAY

Strut out
on a Saturday–

see whether
you can gut,
despite the slightly nippy
weather,
the mundane doldrums
of the workaday. . .

tune your ear
to different drums,
pick up your feet and knees
to follow them,
till your heart sings
and body hums
for you have changed modality,

discovering fresh reality
of the clearer sight
of wondrous fun
and deeply challenging
and satisfying restoration,
self-care,
errand runs,
and frivolous
and marvelous,
constructive
newfound avenues of play.
