Take time
and care
to cultivate
your living garden
of resources,

and that
will spare
your eyes
the sting of brine
when you’ve been shut
behind a gate.

For then,
you will have laid
the field
from which
to garner
skill and strength
to plan a swift escape,
since you’ll be set
to choose among
any number of recourses–

No matter what
the magnitude
and fortitude
of your opposing forces.
