Chew it up,
chew it UP up up,
chew it up,
chew it UP!
(To be sung to the tune of the fun, current pop song, “Shake it Off!”)
I was quite amused when I came up with this little idea, taking delight in the fun of it.
But, upon reflection, I realized it actually is more than just fun– there is a deeper appropriateness to putting those words into the feeling of that song. . .
The pop song is about dancing. And, contrary to what you might think, chewing your food well has a lot of things in common with dancing
For starters, both involve a sheer physicality of movement that requires effort in engaging parts of the body in a rigorous way.
Sticking with the groove of either dancing or chewing eventually provides a delicious, uplifting physical, emotional and mental tension, paying richly for the effort involved.
In the process, the spirit is also released into a realm of freedom that it cannot quote know any other way.
Here’s wishing you a great day of chewing (and maybe dancing, too).
PS–This post is in celebration of Chewsday, an event I’ve mentioned in some of my previous posts on Chewing, on this blog, if you’re curious to know more about this practice followed by people around the world every Tuesday.
