KNOWING THE BETTER PART OF VALOR

Does the better
part of valor
call for patience?

The kind
that waits,
and wise, holds back,
when every being fiber
bawls silent, in insatience?

Or does it call
for yet another crack
at that endeavor
that may require
an extension of a gently dubbing, blessing sword?

or rather,
the sincere offer
of yet another olive branch. . .

To regrow
the deep connecting flow
to the working of a living being
from another’s,
in whom feelings overflow,

without the clumsy slip
of tinker’s tools into sensitive machinery,
causing it to sputter,
or leaving there a festering wrench,
which could obstruct
the loving way
we want to go?

It’s best to discern well.

For
how to conclude
what’s our best path
from here,
and see it clear,
clearly is no cinch to know.

When we wish
a fresh renewal
and unprecedented harvest bounty,
in our living, loving garden
so to grow.
