VANITY OF VANITIES

Vanity of vanities,
all is vanity. . .

in the struggle
to rise above
the level
where you’ve been
stifled, muzzled. . .

so you might pierce through
fallow strata
where natural love
was somehow muddled,
trapped
and rendered barren. . .

to finally feel and see with clarity,
in everyone that lives,
firm basis for a sympathy
as fellow members of humanity. . .

But, only then,
stands there a chance
to bring back you and them
to a fruitful, peaceful wholeness
that reaps the deep and bounteous harvest
of a long-lived sanity.
