NO ONE WILL GET THE BEST OF ME

Bravery
accompanied by
poetry. . .

So well equipped,
no one,
no thing–
+++++ except for you and me
+++++ and those
+++++ I choose–
will get the best of me. . .

My best is pretty good
and even those
who by their sheer
proximity
must take the worst along with best,
may count them lucky. . .

Especially one
whom I’m deep lucky
to have by me
in perpetuity.
