Soaked
on a gray, rainy
summer’s day. . .
pangs abound–
luckily, here’s shelter
of a kind–
I can take solace,
as I see
the rim of waning
light of day
under cloak of blue cast clouds
a two-stripe dusky sky,
as red blinking beacons guide
big freighter ships
into their destined port–
I hope some such signal
comes to me,
with comparable clarity
to guide me back home–
a journey stretched
too long at sea
is unsettling as a sport.
“Soaked” in poetry
Muse co-habitates with me
I accept humbly.
“Time and Space and Place
to Stand” I sought, ever seek
but that was last week. :-)
Thank you, Jingle,

i got the feeling of loneliness yet somehow hopeful
Thanks for reading & commenting, Luna !5–
Yes, I would say loneliness and hope are both important in the mix.
Nice read, love the flow to the piece. Really like the almost hesitation in the early going. Worked really well moving into the poem. The last two stanzas are great, just love the imagery there, thanks:)
Thank you, Fred,

I can feel some deeper meaning in this journey… It’s always good to be back home though. Nice one!
Thank you, Magdalena!
That “inner beacon” is always “home”…thank you for reminding me to keep my eye on it. A very lovely piece.
Thank You, ZQ. The inner beacon being home is a great way to look at it.
I really love the imagery in this, your words are very affecting.
Thank you, Mind Love Misery I am pleased the words and images worked for you.
It seems so easy to lose one’s objective after a while, all the difficulties and obstacles, and getting lost too much is wearisome. So it’s natural to wish for a guiding light at the right time to guide one back to one’s objective or at least back onto the right path. Love this poem and really enjoyed it.
Ravenblack,
You have read my poem well, which encourages me, that all that could come across.
No more rewarding journey than the coming home to oneself. Once we begin that path, we’re halfway there. Lovely read, thank you.
Thank you, Daydreamertoo, it is a journey, indeed.
loneliness is common for all, it is up to you to make it turn around and becomes source of creativity.
smart poetry.
share your work with poetry potluck today.
Thanks Jingle,
That’s what a lot of us seem to be doing– I see that more and more as I read around for the Rally. One of these days I do want to try the Potluck, too.
When the sea calls you must go,
Over the waves where the wind blows,
And once with adventure you get your thrill,
It’s home again over rocks and hill,
For the call of home is equally strong,
Until again you hear the siren’s song.
Beautiful poem, from sea to roam, outward, inward, there’s no place like home.
Thank you, Dan.
That’s a beautiful piece of verse in your reply. Is it yours? You’ve hit it on the nose with that verse, and your whole comment.
Lovely word flow! Lonely and hopeful, cheerful and musty all at once. Absolutely loved it!
Thank you, Carefree Wanderer,
It’s good to hear you grasped so many of the nuances of what I wrote.
I like grey days but then, I’m Scottish, so I’m stuck with them! And I, too, would still look for that guide back home! Lovely poem.
Helena,
Well, I, too, am a creature of the fog, but, like you, I will also not turn down a little beacon light, or even some outright sun when it is offered me.
